SEGTREK

Please read and make all group members aware before arrival.

PARTICIPANT SAFETY INFORMATION

Segways are intuitive machines, easy to ride and generally people gain confidence in a short space of time and carryout the activity in a safe manor. Segway does have associated risks and our role is to help reduce these risks as much as possible. This document will help you to decide whether Segway Trek is for you.

Risk Activity

Segway treks have an element of danger and associated risk and participation should be considered similarly to mountain biking, horse riding or skiing. Segways can travel at speeds of 12mph and the activity takes place on trails in woodland which are bumpy and uneven. The risk of falling off a Segway is high, however with training and input from our team we are confident that we can reduce this risk and enable you to enjoy the experience. It is worth noting that due to the nature of the activity, we cannot remove the associated risks and therefore each participant takes part in the activity understanding this fundamental factor.

Trek Leaders

Tom Cart is the business owner of Segtrek and runs most of the treks at Chirk Castle. On occasions Tom will employee additional Trek Leaders who will accompany you on your journey. All Trek Leaders undergo full training and are also trained first aiders.

Safety Briefing

The start of all treks in done with a safety brief from the Trek Leader. It is imperative that this safety briefing has everyone’s full attention and understanding. You are encouraged to ask any questions or queries.

Demo Session

Following the safety brief the Trek Leader will demonstrate how the Segway is operated. This is done through a verbal and practical demonstration and will require everyone’s full attention and understanding. You are encouraged to ask any questions or queries.

Practice Session

Following the demo session, all participants are given instruction on how to ride a Segway. The training takes place in a dedicated area where the Trek Leader can observe each participant gaining confidence and competence with the Segway.

The Trek Leader will be checking each participant and recording this on the Consent Form as a record of the practice before making a judgment that the participant has demonstrated sufficient competence to take part in the trek.

Participants have the option to withdraw from the activity at any stage by requesting to do so with the Trek Leader.

Insurance

Segtrek strongly recommend that you have your own personal accident and injury insurance in place to cover you for any unexpected incidents.

Segtrek holds insurance for Public Liability and this provides cover for our business’s legal liability to pay damages which result from a negligent act on our part.
